When an associate goes above and beyond with jaw-dropping skill and unprecedented success, name a day after them (i.e. Ed Drysdale Day or Allison Christensen Day). Year after year, as the special day comes around, the team acknowledges the associate's ongoing contributions.
As a manager, when an associate shows exceptional drive, thank them with a free car wash. Better yet, bring the car washers to them. Better yet, join together as a team and wash the car yourselves.
The spouse or partner of a hard-working associate is often the unsung hero who gives up too little together time for too much alone time. Thank them with a table for two, a movie for two, a hotel room for two, massages for two, a trip for two, you get the idea.
